COMMUNITY PROJECT

DIA de los Muertos
October 22 - December 15, 2026

Día de los Muertos exhibition celebrates an important cultural tradition while bringing together fine art, community, and education. It is particularly meaningful in Northeast Arkansas, where the Latino community is an important and growing part of the region. The exhibition brings together loans from the University of Memphis Art Museum, the Mississippi Museum of Art, and the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts with works from BAM’s permanent collection and new work created by A-State students. Día de los Muertos explores recurring ideas of remembrance, mortality, and the continuing presence of those who have died.

FELIX GONZALEZ-TORRES:
UNTITLED (LA)
August 1, 2026 – March 19, 2026

Felix Gonzalez-Torres’s “Untitled” (L.A.) transforms a bounty of green, cellophane-wrapped candies into an artwork shaped by visitor participation. By taking a piece of candy, visitors become part of the work, creating a personal experience centered on connection, generosity,
and continual renewal.

NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS BIG READ: JOY HARJO AN AMERICAN SUNRISE
August 19th, 2026 - May 10th, 2027

This project supports community reading programs designed around Joy Harjo’s An American Sunrise. As our nation moves into its 250th year, the goal of this program is to honor America’s rich artistic and cultural heritage, inspire meaningful conversations, celebrate local creativity, elevate a wide variety of voices and perspectives, and build stronger connections in each community.

Community resources, and ways to participate coming soon.
