“This series consists of people who are dear to me to make it personal. They have inspired me to look beyond our differences such as race, gender, and religion and just embrace our differences. This has inspired me to paint people of different ethnicities and to focus on their individuality instead of likeness. In these paintings, I express the individuality by using different colors and facial expressions.

To emphasize individuality, I decided to concentrate on selfies in this series. Selfies is a common trend in the 21st century. It often shows us about that individual’s personality. People often use selfies as ways to boost their self confidence, seek attention, improve their mood, or increase their popularity. Some people take too many and post it on social media. Psychology, this can cause them to feel insecure and to have low self-esteem. Selfies can be a good and a bad thing but it’s how you use it.  It can destroy or uplift people.”
