SURVIVE OR DIE TRYING - 2024 SENIOR EXHIBITION
The 2024 Senior Exhibition features two students graduating from the Department of Art and Design at Arkansas State University. They include Aaron Conger and Elizabeth Vansandt.
Aaron Conger, of Sulphur Rock, first decided that he wanted to become an artist at the beginning of Junior High when he began tracing characters from video games and anime. Since then, he has been in art class every semester until he graduated. It was in between his junior and senior years that he realized he wanted to focus his artwork on Godzilla and dinosaurs; this decision was followed by the development of a conceptual interest in the atomic age and nuclear power. Conger’s Christian faith and background are also very important to him.
L. Elizabeth Vansandt, of southeast Arkansas, works in fibers, photography, and ceramics. Her work is heavily inspired by the natural overgrowth of the environment around her. With a love for performance and elaborate historical wearable art, Elizabeth is currently exploring costume design and theatrical artware, with the pursuit of working in costume design. Her work has been exhibited locally throughout Northeast Arkansas and she currently resides in Jonesboro.
