WORKSHOP: Image Embedding & Suspension

  • Bradbury Art Museum 201 Olympic Drive Jonesboro, Arkansas United States (map)

This fall, BAM will be exploring acrylic painting techniques alongside the exhibition Contemporary Classic. Join us for a discussion of the exhibition and painter Vitus Shell, followed by a hands-on workshop where we explore intersections between printmedia and painting as well as display options for acrylic paint skins. We will experiment with laser image transfers, gel mediums, and embedding photographic images in paint. We will also investigate options for display of acrylic skins, from mounting on canvas to suspension with fishing line.

We will be joined by Assistant Professor of Painting Lydia Dildilian, who uses acrylic skins in her own work.

This workshop will be messy, so please dress accordingly.

Seating is limited. Please register below to attend.

*Acrylic paint skins are sheets of paint made by pouring acrylic paint onto plastic sheeting and allowing it to dry before peeling it off.
