Exhibition Dates: January 29 – March 18, 2026
Juror: Ann ‘Sole Sister’ Johnson, multidisciplinary printmaker, educator, and co-founder of Print Houston
Artist Ann ‘Sole Sister’ Johnson’s work has been widely exhibited in spaces from the Highpoint Center for Printmaking in Minneapolis to the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco. Johnson has been recognized as an “Artist to Watch” by the International Review of African American Art and one of the most transformative artists of the year by Black Art in America in 2024. She works across disciplines, combining experimental printmaking with sculpture and installation.
Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 and older. Submissions must be original works on paper, created within the last two years, including but not limited to, digital, intaglio, lithographic, photographic, relief, serigraphic and stencil processes. Monotypes are also eligible but reproductions of pre-existing works are not. Prints exhibited in a previous DNSPE are not eligible.
A note on size: Our DNSPE founder Evan Lindquist and founding museum director Les Christensen wanted this exhibition to be an evolving cross-section of contemporary print, developing and changing as the print world has changed. Seeing that prints had grown in size, they adjusted their designation of small print prior within the first ten years of DNSPE to include larger sizes. Prints submitted for this exhibition must be no larger than will fit inside a 24 x 32 inch frame. There is no minimum size requirement.
Display: Each selected print will be framed by Bradbury Art Museum during the exhibition. In order to ensure that your print will fit into the frame, each print must arrive matted in or mounted on a horizontal or vertical, 16 x 20, 18 x 24, 20 x 24, 24 x 24, or 24 x 32 inch white or off-white mat.
If your print is not matted or mounted, it cannot be displayed.
Works Accepted: Results of the selection process will be emailed to all entrants by the end of the day on November 7, 2025. Each print selected for exhibition must be received by the Bradbury Art Museum no later than December 17, 2025.
Images and Catalog: Each artist may submit up to three prints, represented in a digital format (jpeg preferred) with a resolution no less than 300 dpi at 4 x 5 inches or 1200 x 1500 pixels. The digital files must be print quality as all works selected for exhibition will be reproduced in a full-color catalog. By entering this exhibition each artist grants consent for the use of submitted images for reproduction in the catalog, for publicity and for educational purposes. Images without an artist's signature are preferred.
Awards: Purchase Awards and Juror’s Merit Awards will be offered and announced at the opening of the exhibition. Each artist receiving an award will have their artist’s statement of 100 words or less printed in the exhibition catalog. Typically, half of the show is purchased for the A-State Permanent Collection of Art and by the viewing audience.
Entry Fee: A $15 (nonrefundable) entry fee permits each artist to submit up to three prints.
After your entry form has been submitted, you will receive an email link prompting you to pay the entry fee through A-State Marketplace. If you do not receive an email, contact us by phone or email to let us know.
Sales: The sale of prints in the exhibition will be promoted. A commission of 30% will be retained from the sale price including purchase awards.
