BAM and the A-State Department of English are hosting a reading featuring author Mary Elizabeth Pope. Pope grew up in Michigan with roots deep in the Missouri Bootheel and Northeast Arkansas. She holds a Ph.D. in English and Creative Writing from the University of Iowa and is Professor of English at Emmanuel College in Boston. She will be reading from her book The Gods of Green County: “In 1926 rural Green County, Arkansas, cotton and poverty reign. Coralee Harper hopes for a family and a place in her community, but when her brother Buddy is killed by the sheriff, she can’t recover from the injustice of his loss.”
