LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL EXHIBITION
November 29 - December 7, 2016
In September, three JHS classes and BAM began a semester-long project. The students first toured the museum, discussing the portrait-themed exhibitions on display. In response, they then created a portrait of their own, inspired by the work they had seen on their visit.
A writing component was initiated and each artist produced a statement explaining their artwork. Both their art and written pieces were submitted to a competition resulting in the work by 23 students being selected for inclusion in this exhibition, formerly titled Face Off.
Sharon Lindquist, a well-respected artist and longtime art instructor served as the juror for the show. In addition to reviewing the entries and choosing the featured artworks she also determined the three top award winners and two honorable mentions.
