LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL EXHIBITION

Local high school art students visited the Bradbury Art Museum in October 2017 to view the exhibition "A Shared Vision: Selections from the Rudolph-Blume Collection.”
Students from Jonesboro, Valley View, Nettleton, Brookland and Bay High Schools toured and discussed the exhibition. As in past years, they were asked to select a piece that inspired them and to create an artwork of their own based on that work. Further they wrote a statement about their artwork and together these two components were submitted to be considered for a competitive exhibition. More than 100 students participated in the fall tours. Twenty-five works were chosen from those submitted for the exhibition.
Dr. Mihaela Savu, a practicing artist and alumna from the A-State Department of Art and Design, served as the juror of the exhibition. She reviewed all submitted works of art and written statements to select which pieces would be included in the show, titled “Inspired.” During the selection process, Savu stated, “What an honor and a difficult task this is to go through so many good artworks, but be limited by the gallery space.”
The artists included from The Academies at Jonesboro High School included Beau Alexander, Brooks Browning, Myka Laws, Zoey Moore, Stormy Purdy, Natalie Quintana, Caroline Rose, Chris Sullivan, Daeshawn Trice and Anna Wiener. Valley View High School was represented by Madelyn Clack, Wesley Conner, Courtney Garner, Jillian Silas and Elizabeth Turner. Nettleton High School artists included Kyana Chandler, Kayla Copeland, William Griffin and Jillian Lewis. The artwork of Bri Gibson, Winter Hicks, Baylie Hill and Abby Wilson was selected from Brookland High School. Lily Emerick and Kaitlyn Norwood represented Bay High School.
